From April 13 to October 13, 2025, Jago will take part in Expo Osaka as a key figure in the cultural offering of the Italian Pavilion, bringing with him one of his most evocative works: Circulatory System. A sculpture that beats, lives, and tells the story of life’s rhythm through matter, form, and movement.
Circulatory System: a beating heart at Expo Osaka 2025

The work will be displayed in the “IO” (ME) section, dedicated to the individual, in perfect harmony with the pavilion’s theme “Art Regenerates Life”, curated by Mario Cucinella. A powerful statement that places art at the center of the dialogue between science, well-being, and humanity.

Created in 2017, Circulatory System is the result of a journey that merges art and technology to give shape to the invisible. Jago first sculpted a heart in clay, then digitized its motion to produce a 3D animation, which was broken down into thirty frames. Each frame became a unique glazed ceramic heart, capturing a specific moment in a single heartbeat.
Arranged in a circle, the thirty sculptures form a visual and symbolic loop: a beat with no beginning or end, like life itself. A looping video completes the installation, transforming the space into an immersive experience in which sculpture becomes breath, presence, and memory.
An Artwork Across Time
Circulatory System is more than a sculptural gesture—it is a bridge between past, present, and future. As Jago explains:
“With Circulatory System, I wanted to show how even a solid, seemingly immobile material like ceramic can be made to move and beat. Through creativity and technical skill, the piece comes to life, becoming an eternal heartbeat.”
Its presence at Expo Osaka marks another milestone in the artist’s global journey, following the David, symbol of the Amerigo Vespucci’s world tour, and Look Down in New York. Here too, Jago sparks a dialogue between contemporary art and the great masters of the past: the Italian Pavilion will also host iconic works such as the Farnese Atlas and Caravaggio’s The Deposition.
Art as Regeneration
Jago’s participation in Expo Osaka is an opportunity to reaffirm Italy’s identity as a country looking to the future with creativity and vision. Circulatory System embodies the spirit of the Pavilion: art as a generative force, capable of transforming stillness into motion, silence into rhythm, matter into emotion.
