The David by Jago: artistic symbol of the Amerigo Vespucci’s Mediterranean Tour

Starting from March 1, 2025, the bronze model of the David by Jago accompanies the Mediterranean Tour of the Amerigo Vespucci, continuing its journey after having already joined the world’s most beautiful sailing ship on the international stops of the World Tour.

Jago’s renowned sculpture, which will be exhibited in the various IN Villages throughout Italy during the Mediterranean Tour, represents a bridge between tradition and artistic innovation. As in his other works, Jago draws inspiration from classical iconography and the legacy of the great masters, reinterpreting the myth of David and Goliath in a contemporary key to tell a story of courage and resilience.

The David project began in 2020 with the creation of an initial clay sketch, from which Jago developed the plaster model and later the bronze version that now accompanies the Amerigo Vespucci.

The Mediterranean Tour of the Amerigo Vespucci is not just a journey across the seas but also a celebration of Made in Italy and Italian culture worldwide. The David, with its expressive power, becomes the perfect symbol of this journey, testifying to the timeless value of sculpture as a universal language and engaging with the public at every stop of the tour.

The Mediterranean Tour initiative, promoted by the Ministry of Defense and supported by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, celebrates the connection between artistic excellence and Italy’s cultural heritage, highlighting creativity as a driving force for the future.
