Look Down in the main courtyard of Palazzo Montecitorio

Starting from June 26, 2025, Jago’s artwork Look Down will be on display in the main courtyard of Palazzo Montecitorio in Rome.

Look Down is a work that stems from a gaze directed downward — not out of shame, but out of awareness. It is an invitation to focus attention on what we too often ignore: poverty, abandonment, and the fragility that inhabit our cities and our time. In this piece, I wanted to portray the wounded innocence of millions of children, but also the promise of a future that depends on how well we are able to protect them today.

Bringing this sculpture to the heart of the Republic’s institutions, into the main courtyard of the Chamber of Deputies, is an act of trust in collective responsibility and in the power of symbolism. Every child in the world represents our future: recognizing their dignity is the first step toward building a better society.

May this marble not remain silent, but continue to speak — to those who make decisions, to those who represent, and above all, to those who look. Because looking down, in this case, means elevating our conscience.
